The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 refresh is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market with its introduction of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. This native Tesla-based charging port will eliminate the need for adapters at Tesla stations, providing a seamless charging experience for Ioniq 5 owners. While other automakers have announced their adoption of the NACS connector, Hyundai is leading the pack by integrating it directly into their new models.
In addition to the groundbreaking charging port, the 2025 Ioniq 5 lineup boasts larger batteries compared to its predecessor. With Standard Range models offering 58.0 to 63.0 kWh and Long Range models featuring 77.4 to 84 kWh, Hyundai is pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle range. The Standard Range models are targeting over 240 miles on a single charge, a significant improvement from the current model’s 220 miles. The Long Range plus RWD combination is expected to exceed 310 miles, up from the current 303 miles.

This rugged package brings an off-road appeal to the vehicle, similar to Ford’s Mustang Mach-E Rally. By catering to customers looking for adventure and versatility in their electric vehicles, Hyundai is expanding the appeal of the Ioniq 5 beyond city driving.
Production of the new 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will take place in the US at Hyundai’s Georgia factory, marking a shift towards domestic manufacturing in the electric vehicle segment. The company anticipates the new model to qualify for a $3,750 federal tax credit for electric vehicles and expects additional federal incentives to follow. Notably, leases of the Ioniq 5 will still be eligible for the $7,500 federal credit, which will be fully passed down to consumers.
